Traditional Foods
This time around our topic is food. Have you ever stopped to think about how your cuisine may differ from that from another country? Take a moment to reflect on the following questions:
Now it's time to think about the typical dishes that represent your country. If you had to share one food with the other school, what would it be? Do you have it in mind? Now it's time to start our new project.
- What kind of weather has your country got? And your partner school? What kind of fruits and vegetables might be grown in these climates?
- Could your climate affect the kind of meat you eat? How much meat do you eat?
- Where is your country located? And your partner school? Are you landlocked? Have you got access to big bodies of water? What kind of fish and seafood do you eat? Do you eat it often?
Now it's time to think about the typical dishes that represent your country. If you had to share one food with the other school, what would it be? Do you have it in mind? Now it's time to start our new project.
Project 1
- Choose a typical recipe in your first language.
- Translate the recipe into English.
- Choose a technical support and post the recipe in both languages online.
Project 2
- Look at the other school's recipes. Which one do you like the best?
- Make a video of yourself cooking the food and explaining it in English.
- Edit the video to have English subtitles.
Project 3: Reflect
Revisit the questions we asked ourselves before. What have you learned from each other's presentations? Let your teacher know your email address to add information to the Popplet below.
